Qian Yin-xiao

QIAN is a Hong Kong-based artist and is an artist-in-residence at the Jockey Club Creative Arts Centre in 2019-2021. QIAN graduated with BA (Hons) in Visual Arts from Hong Kong Baptist University in 2019 and was awarded Professor Raymond Fung Award for Chinese Painting. She specialises in ink art, while at the same time dabbles on illustration and three-dimensional mediums.

QIAN melds ink with various materials to expand the possibility and context of this traditional medium. She has developed a relationship with ink from pure instinct, creating works in different rhythms.

Through Chinese ink, Qian expresses her emotions and thoughts towards life in abstract visual language. This differs from traditional Chinese painting that emphasises on the appreciation of nature and downplays personal emotions, her works convey intimate feelings with diverse brushworks and textures, which also establish void and solid spaces for dialogues.

Memories with Fringe Club

你看見的,不一定是我看到的;

有著過去,現在及未發生的;

Memories with Fringe Club
