Wong Shun-kit
Wong Shun-kit is currently Executive Director of the Shanghai Himalayas Art Museum, a post he took up after working as Professor and Dean of the International School of Communication Design at the Beijing Normal University Zhuhai Campus (2003-2008).
He served as Chairman of the Hong Kong Arts Development Council’s Visual Arts Committee (2000-2004) and Convener of its Steering Group on Hong Kong’s participation in the 49th, 50th and 51st Venice Biennale of the Hong Kong Arts Development Council and one of Curators of the 54th Venice Biennale of the Hong Kong Arts Development Council.
Also, he was Honorary Adviser to the Hong Kong Museum of Art’s Art Promotion Panel (1993-1996), an Organising Committee Member of the Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan Exhibition at the 10th National Arts Exhibition China, and Artistic Director of the Artist Commune (1997-2000).
Wong has received a number of awards and fellowships. They include an International Fellowship in the Visual Arts from the United States Information Agency and the Mid-America Arts Alliance, an Artist Residency at the School of Art of Rutgers University in the United States, a Hong Kong Urban Council Fine Art Award, a Hong Kong Artist of the Year Award, and a Starr Foundation Fellowship from the Asian Cultural Council.
His works have been widely exhibited in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Berlin, Stuttgart, Tokyo and the New Jersey. He has held two solo exhibitions in Hong Kong: “Basic Space”, an installation exhibition presented by the Hong Kong Arts Centre, and the “Hong Kong Artist Series - Shun-kit Wong”, organised by the Hong Kong Museum of Art. Wong has curated and co-curated many exhibitions in Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Shanghai and London since 1995.
